Libertas has launched a National Advertising campaign that will see well over 100 billboards placed in prominent locations around the country bearing the Libertas Message.

The Billboards are designed to highlight what is at stake for Ireland in the referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, and to expose the contradictory views of those calling for a yes vote.

Commenting on the campaign, Libertas Campaign Director David Cochrane said:

"So far in this campaign, we have seen nothing from those who support the Treaty that informs us of its contents. Instead, we have seen a sustained campaign by them to discredit and smear those of us who feel that a "No" vote is in Ireland's best interests.

We know that when the Irish people are informed on the issues at stake in the referendum, they'll say no to a treaty that's bad, bad for the people of Ireland and bad for all the people of Europe.

This decision is a momentous one. Are we going to vote for a Europe that has much more power over our affairs, but over which the individual citizen has no influence? Are we going to vote to halve our say at the European Table, but vote twice as much influence to our German colleagues?

Are we going to hand control of our economic affairs over to an unelected, unaccountable, unrestrained EU commission, and at the same time vacate our seat on that commission for five years at a time?

Those on the Yes side are presenting one view of Europe to the Irish people, and promising to secure another Europe when talking to their EU colleagues. We think its time people like Lucinda Creighton, Bertie Ahern, and Enda Kenny told the truth to the Irish people.

We have promised to run the best resourced, most aggressive, and most effective campaign on an EU Treaty in irish history. This is the first step in honouring that promise."
