Creighton comments shameful
Written by Libertas

"Today , Lucinda Creighton has exemplified what so many people in this country hate about Politics.

Before we say anything more, we want to state that Libertas is calling on Enda Kenny to immediately explain whether he endorses Deputy Creighton's comments.

We believe that he should immediately ask her to apologise, and publicly reprimand her.

Instead of engaging in the debate on the Lisbon Treaty in any kind of meaningful way, she has decided to try, in a most amateurish fashion, to knee-cap her opponents.

At this time, Libertas will not speak for Mr. McEvaddy, other than to say that he is somebody who has served his country with distinction as an army officer, and has been a long-standing and proud supporter of the party that now attempts to ruin his good name.

Mr. Ganley, also, has a long record of service to his country. He is still an active member of the FCA, for example, and has been a long standing supporter of the University of Limerick trust.

Further, he is a recipient of the distinguished service medal of the State of Louisiana, in recognition of the many lives saved during hurricane Katrina thanks to his actions.

Today's comments by Lucinda Creighton are classless, nasty, and riddled with innuendo. If they are conspicuous by anything it is their absence of facts.

Not anywhere in her comments does she substantiate her allegation that "Messrs Ganley and McEvaddy's own personal economic and military interests in the US must be directly informing their own positions in opposing the Lisbon Treaty."

Instead, it is a slur on the character of two honourable and decent men.

Lucinda Creighton should be ashamed of herself. Her party should certainly be ashamed of her comments, which are a cheap attempt to gain publicity in this debate by somebody who has thus far received very little."
