"Minister Roche is flat out ignoring the facts. As we stated yesterday , the official explanations of the Charter of fundamental rights very clearly make provision for the death penalty, and the detention of children for educational purposes. For that matter, they also make provision for the detention of adults who carry a contagious disease, and for Government abrogation of the right to private property in the national economic interest. The explanation of the charter makes clear what each right actually means. We would strongly suggest that people read it." |
